Mounted a Crane Brass Bell from Japan (got from TR Bikes), instead of the usual method of mounting to the handlebar, I mounted it to the brake lever, through the bolt. Feels more ergonomic and hands stay in optimal position. Use right thumb to ring bell, use right index and middle finger to control front brake. In most situations, the rear brake is the priority, so putting the rear brake on the left side lets me keep my right thumb on the bell (when cycling around pedestrians)

Shimano 105 Front Brake

Shimano 105 Rear Brake - It seems to have slightly more clearance than the original Boston brakes, brake pads are now 2mm away from edge of rim.

39 Teeth Q-ring on crank - This greatly reduces my gear ratio, I only managed to reach 40 Km/h max on a 2 lane/2 way asphalt road (at night with light traffic). This feels like a good gear ratio to ride fixed, which I'm cnsidering to have another go. (The last gear ratio of 53T/16T was too high to effectively brake using backpedal)

  1. would still seem a little high to brake on a fixed with a 49t. I think most time the "magical number" is 47t (matched with a 15t rear)

I mriding a 53/16 but SS now on my SOMA. Would like a 54 and 55 ring though.
